Janell's Background

Janell Broekemier, originally from Englewood, Colorado, spent much of her upbringing in Yankton, South Dakota, and Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated summa cum laude from Wayne State College in 2010 with a degree in Secondary English Education. After earning her paralegal certification through the National Association of Legal Assistants in Colorado, Janell began her legal career at Clawson & Clawson, LLP, where she developed a strong passion for family law, leading her to pursue a law degree.

Janell earned her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2020, concentrating on family law. During law school, she was an active Moot Court senior board member and excelled as a member of the mediation team, achieving 4th place out of nearly 200 contestants at the International Alternative Dispute Resolution Tournament. She also contributed to the Nebraska National Guard as a Cyber Capabilities Student Researcher/Fellow and served as the Community Coordinator for the Constitutional Law Education Program. In her final year, Janell was a senior-certified student attorney in the Children's Justice Clinic, where she represented juveniles as a Guardian ad Litem.

Janell resides in Sloan, Iowa, with her husband, daughter, two dogs, and a cat. Outside of work, she enjoys running, swimming, gardening, horseback riding, and engaging with her community.
