Trinette's Background

Trinette LaFleur is a native of South Dakota. Trinette attended Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan for high school, where she received her degree with an emphasis on dance. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in dance from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, graduating cum laude in 2008. From there, she moved to Los Angeles, California and danced professionally with Donna Sternberg & Dancers from 2009-2011.

Trinette moved home to South Dakota to pursue her law degree in 2013. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota in 2016, graduating second in her class and with Sterling Honors. While at law school, Trinette was the recipient of multiple awards and scholarships including the McKusick Scholarship, the Harvey C. Jewett IV Writing Award, and the Joseph N. Spencer III Memorial Student Writer’s Award. She received the Dean’s Certificate for Outstanding Performance in several of her classes. Trinette worked for her family’s business throughout law school. Trinette also served on the Law Review Board and was Copy Editor for Volume 61 (2015-2016). Following law school, Trinette was honored to hold a clerkship position with the Second Judicial Circuit of South Dakota, serving Minnehaha and Lincoln counties.

Trinette works in family law and general litigation. She enjoys assisting clients navigate sensitive situations in family law and aims to make the process smoother for them. Trinette enjoys the research and writing aspects of general litigation best and finds joy in advancing well-researched legal theories.
